A desire for NIRAS to be a leading company within induction bending, resulted in the establishment of an internal laboratory in 2016. NIRAS laboratory is equipped with modern, high quality preparation and testing equipment for microstructural analysis and hardness testing. Examination of the different alloys gives us accurate input on the characteristic changes in the materials. Material testing is of great interest to prove the metallurgic quality of pipes having been exposed to induction heat, stress by bending and/or heat treatment.

Our metallurgists analyse the results in order to understand and counter the issues of microstructural changes. By having this facility in-house, we have eliminated time-consuming transport and challenging third party capacity constraints. More importantly and even better, we manage to increase the level of knowledge and expertise among the staff.
